Four Seasons Dreamlog: Parts 1 – 4

This four-part accordion fold book chronicles the daily dreams of the artist, incorporating a circular stamp as the unifying theme. Images appear on both sides of the pages. Four Seasons Dreamlog: Parts 1–4 served as the basis for the book, “400 Butterflies,” created in the Library by children of all ages.

Artist Genie Shenk said: “I have recorded my dreams for many years and, since 1982, have kept visual dream diaries as well, calendar pieces with one dream from each night. These began as quilts, but the rightness of the book form to the process soon became apparent. I’ve frequently used an accordion fold structure that reflects the diurnal sequence or a circular format, emphasizing the cyclical pattern of the year.”
